Aileen Chai

Ms. Aileen Chai is a researcher specialising in experential, immersive, interactive media and technology for learning and has as strong interest in collaborative learning and artificial intelligence in education in the area of natural language processing .
Currently, she serves as a part-time lecturer and practicum supervisor at NIE, NTU. She is also currently working on how AI can help learners think critically through dialogue and feedback with various institutions.
With a background in media as a journalist and media producer in USA and Singapore, an educator in Singapore schools and a researcher in educational technology, Ms. Chai spent eleven years at the Media Design for Learning Branch, Educational Technology Division, Ministry of Education (MOE), focusing on education technology for learning and how to translate theory into practice. During her time at MOE headquarters, she focused on integrating design principles, learning science theories and pedagogy to develop innovative and adaptive learning environments. Additionally, she collaborated with schools and researchers to identify the evolving needs in teaching and learning and proposed solutions, particularly in the area of English Language and cyberwellness. Several projects focusing on educational technology and behaviour and mindset shifts, where Ms Chai served as the Principal Investigator, received research and innovation awards. She also conducted professional development workshops for educators and curriculum designers.
Prior to joining MOE, Ms Chai was a secondary school educator, primarily focusing on English Language and Literature while actively integrating ICT and national education initiatives at a school-wide level.
